MBM ScienceBridge GmbH successfully negotiates a commercial agreement between the Medical Faculty of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen Stiftung Öffentlichen Rechts (Universitätsmedizin Göttingen, UMG) and Akouos, Inc.

The most common sensory disorder worldwide is hearing loss and it affects several million people. Its lost can dramatically impact the development of children, reduce the interpersonal communication and impair daily life. Akouos is developing novel therapies and delivery systems to prevent hearing loss and restore hearing in genetically defined patient populations. With this agreement Akouos has access to a novel innovation of the Universitätsmedizin Göttingen in this area. The Universitätsmedizin Göttingen receives payments which will benefit its scientists as well as its further research.


The Georg-August-Universität Göttingen was founded in 1737. As an international renowed research university it offers excellent facilities for teaching and research, worldwide networks, as well as great research tradition - as well as a comprehensive range of more than 130 course subjects. Since 2003, the body legally responsible for the University has been a Public Law Foundation.

The MBM ScienceBridge GmbH is a fully owned technology transfer organization by the University of Göttingen and acts on behalf of nine research institutes in Lower Saxony as a technology transfer interface to companies around the world.
